Singin’ In the Rain

And now, it’s time for the Channel 16 Acupuncture Weather forecast with our own certified staff Psycho-meteorologist, Nimba Zaftig. How are we gonna be feeling in the next few days, Nimba?

Well, Chuck, we’ve got a lot of emotional fronts shaping up across the country so our Mood Meter is swinging all over the place. Let’s take a look.

The main item right now is a tropical depression headed for the Gulf.

Already people in Miami and Naples have pretty much given up making any preparations as their barometer falls. Our reporters are hearing comments like “What’s the point?” “We probably deserve this,” and “We’re doomed.” It’s classic for tropical depression but sad to see regardless.

You folks in Pensacola and Biloxi, this is headed your way. So you should probably go ahead now and board up your windows before you lose the will to care.

In some real bad luck, this combines with a low that covers much of the Midwest. People there are still trying to be cheerful, but a lot of them have that little I-don’t-know-it’s-just-something worry that dampens their general happiness. They’re still munching on their brats at the WienerFest in Racine, but they not finishing their beers. And the oompah has pretty much gone out of the tuba, so the polka band is just phoning it in.

Luckily, we can always count on Southern California.

That high system continues to stall over the greater LA and San Diego area. We hear the waves are breaking just right, lots of happy creatures are dancing on the lawns, and everybody’s auras are harmonizing in one big borealis of love. The situation probably won’t change as long as the No Worries current keeps pushing up from Australia.

As always, the metro Washington DC area remains unstable and shifts from widely scattered to apocalyptic so fast our radar can’t get a fix. So the wind advisory continues in effect.

Like I said at the beginning, the Channel 16 Acupuncture Weather Mood Meter is wobbling about midway between bliss and dread. But as you can see, the overall Anxiety Index is very high. If you’re allergic to news, this might be a good time to stay indoors with the Wi-Fi shut down.

If anything should change between now and tomorrow’s broadcast, we’ll keep you informed with MoodMail updates. But again, there’s a lot to be said for pulling plugs, ducking your heads, and just living your own life for awhile.

Until next time, this is Acupuncture Weather Psycho-meteorologist Nimba Zaftig saying: may a smile be your umbrella!
